How to choose the right sized Fluidart Stainless Steel Ultra violet Sterilizer
Pond algae and green and murky pond water ...
How to avoid it. There is only one way to permanently solve your pond algae problem that causes green murky water especially in summer when weather is warmer and sunlight intensity greater.
By way of general background it is important to realize that algae thrive on sunlight, warm weather and high nutrient levels in water. So if you have a problem it will possibly disappear in winter and be extremely concerning and annoying in mid summer. Algae problems have been getting worse over the years as a result of more nutrients (fertilizers for the algae, which are plants remember) finding their way into waterways and natural water supplies.

How does the Fluidart Technologies Stainless Ultraviolet Sterilizer or UV work?
When algae are exposed to UV light the cell wall is destroyed. The result of this is that algae clump together. Prior to clumping a single algae cell has a diameter of about 4 microns (4 millionths of a metre or very very small). Because algae are so small it is difficult for any filter to remove it. However after clumping the filter can do a good job of mechanically removing the algae.
The Fluidart Technologies Stainless Ultra violet Sterilizer or UV lamp does not prevent algae forming. It works by killing the algae faster than they can make the water go green. The algae will still tend to form so long as the conditions suit them. However if the wattage of the UV clarifier or sterilizer is too low then the water will remain green for the reason that the algae are forming more quickly than they can be killed. If any doubt when choosing an UV clarifier go for a larger size. You cannot overdose with UV
If you install an Fluidart Technologies Stainless Ultraviolet UV clarifier in a pond whose water is already green then it will take some days to clear depending on wattage of the unit. Also be aware that the quartz tube may well get fouled up with green algae seriously reducing the radiation. If the pond has not cleared inside a week then check the quartz tube and clean it if necessary. Repeat also if necessary. Your pond will go clear unless the wattage is insufficient - promise.

Fluidart Technologies Ultraviolet Sterilizer ..... Fluidart Technologies designed these lights with lasting quality and peak efficiency as top priorities. The housing of our lights are made of timeless heavy 3/16 stainless steel. They are electro polished both inside and out for beauty and function. The highly polished inside surface allows the reflectance of UV-light, increasing the intensity and killing power of the unit. Other Stainless Steel UV's on the market are only polished on the outside, but claim reflectance benefits from a dull unpolished inner surface. Our vertical design also allows for extremely easy rebulbing and the side mounted ballasts prevent the frequent over heating problems of the top mounted ballasts. We have single and double bulb units with super high intensity bulbs available in both styles. Units available for ponds from 2,500 gallons to 20,000 gallons.
