What Are Floating-Leaf Plants?

Floating plants are my favorite water plants and I have a lot of them in my garden pond. They are very attractive indeed and my friends always insist on having a barbeque close to the pond when they are at my house. They say that there is something intriguing about the water lilies. My wife also loves painting close to the pond and she opted for this venue because of the purple and blue lilies that she claims "bring out the creative genius" in her. How To Choose Water Garden Plants...

The leaves and flowers of these plants float gracefully on the water surface, while the roots trail or anchor into the mud at the bottom of the pond. Floating plants also provide shelter for animals and play a pivotal role in controlling algae in the pond. Water lilies are perhaps the most common plants in this group.

Floating leaf plants guidelines...

These plants are very sensitive to water depth and temperature. Do not plant in the water before reading and understanding the information on the labels. You should use a thermometer to gauge the temperature of your water and you can buy one at most garden retail outlets.

When buying water lilies, try and buy those that flower at different times of the year so that your pond looks beautiful and colorful all year round. Do not damage your pond when planting your floating plants. Refrain from using garden tools such as spikes and garden sticks. Floating plants are very selective about the environment they grow in and require certain conditions.

The floating plants are have a pleasant scent that attracts bees and birds as well. Below is a list of my recommended floating plants.
