Consider Starting a Water Garden with a Small Preformed Goldfish Pond
Above Ground Lightweight Goldfish Ponds for All year Round Use
In the picture below I have shown a very small self contained pond. This could be supplied with or without a small waterfall. Goldfish ponds like this will easily hold two or three small fish happily for a long time. They can be placed indoors, outdoors or on a patio by a single person in a few minutes. The only provisos are ... don't put too many fish in the pond and don't overfeed them.
All you have to do is take it home and put it down (lightweight but very strong fibreglass construction makes this possible). This type of above ground pond is low cost and installation could not be easier and yet it has a natural rock finish.
Small goldfish ponds like this will fit into a corner. A small pond and fountain
pump will provide enough oxygen for a few fish. So long as the goldfish pond is
not over-populated or too much food fed to the fish they will remain healthy for
a long time even in a small pond like this. Add one or two small plants and the
pond will work even better.
What About Freezing in Winter? ... No Problem
If you live in a very cold winter area where freezing is a distinct possibility you could take the whole pond system indoors for winter with almost no trouble at all. You would just empty (but keep) the pond water, take the lightweight unit indoors and refill with the original pond water. Do not be tempted to use fresh tap water ... the pond water is perfect for the fish. Goldfish do not enjoy major and sudden changes.

All fish pond pumps are NOT created equal. It should plainly state on box that they are indeed fish pond pumps; totally suitable and guaranteed for outdoor pond environments. Selection is easy when you know how.
