Blanket weed or string algae really is a serious problem for so many fish ponds and their owners and has been the sole cause of many people abandoning fish ponds.

So what is blanket weed (blanketweed)?

Blanket weed goes under several names including: blanketweed, blanket weed, string algae, silk weed, filamentous algae, curly weed and maiden's hair. Most larger koi ponds normally have a bottom drain and this means very little debris collects on the bottom and sides of ponds. In this case there is no need for the organic debris digestion component so rather go for the Viresco KOI.

How To Choose The Right Viresco Product

Viresco Aqua contains a microbial formula that removes nitrates and reduces the levels of phosphate. In essence this product starves the algae of food, causing death. The nitrate level will remain at zero, usually for many weeks and, for some, many months. Viresco Aqua also contains an organic waste digester which will eliminate pond detritus.

Viresco Koi

The majority of pond keepers maintain a very clean ponds and do not have a need for the organic waste digester part of Viresco Aqua. If you are simply looking for the blanket weed buster then Viresco Koi is the one for you.
